www.parkingticket.com: It's official: beginning today, most New York City parking fines will nearly double. That $55 slap on the wrist will become a major $105 kick to your wallet.
This site purports to help take the sting out of steep parking fines. All you have to do is enter information from your ticket onto a template that looks like your ticket. You provide vehicle registration information and answer specific questions about how you received the ticket.
The parkingticket.com team, including retired parking violation judges, police officers and traffic agents, then goes to work finding grounds for having your ticket dismissed. Within days, they will e-mail you a customized dismissal letter to be mailed in with the ticket.
If the ticket is reduced or dismissed, the site gets half the savings. If you're found guilty, you pay only a $5 processing fee.
Parkingticket.com also handles tickets for Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.
